Hi, gents! In this thread I want to introduce to you the new online tool aimed to make our lives easier and more enjoyable. I speak about www.optionpnl.info. I decided to create this site because I find my broker's (IB) terminal extremely not user friendly and other online tools didn't make me feel satisfied too. Please, have a glance on it if you're interested and get in touch with me here or there if you want to propose some new features or have revealed a bug or just want to say something. Have a good day!
interesting project!! vv nice. question.. im checking up SPY for instance, on the risk profile there is a strike to choose. strike can be chosen only in 5 points jump. is there any other way to choose the in between strikes? and same about expire date
Thanks for feedback, guys. Unfortunately, the only data I use is provided by Google Finance, so that everything you can choose and see is the same as on google.com/finance/option_chain?q=SPY itself (link is for SPY specifically). Sometimes it does not even contain most of the prices (e.g. on weekends) or shows some really strange strikes, but I've always expected Google to be the most reliable source (without any evidence though), so if it's really not the case than may be you can advice where to look for?
I will give you this link http://finance.yahoo.com/q/op?s=SPY&date=1416614400 It seems to have the same search mechanism and same options details. I gave it to you with a glance and i'm sure there are more helpful sources out there. I'm following your thread and waiting for news from this project! best wishes Ron
Thanks for pointing the problem, Ron! I definitely will place the datasource question under scrutiny and also give yahoo a try, it looks really good at first glance.
Hello again! After 7 months of development and procrastination (most of the time) my site made friends with yahoo, finally! Hopefully you guys did not become extremely angry with me for such a long waiting.
Thx, nanama! Basically I just want to share this tool with people as I find it useful for my own options trading. From time to time I continue to add some features, if I need them or if someone asked me to (can be much slower). Please, be aware that it's not a commercial software, it uses a free hosting plan and would be down sometimes if I messed something up while developing. I'll try to improve it's appearance in google search when I have time for it.
Major updates so far: different tools were separated into their own pages pnl page now every leg in strategy is fully editable made a few chart parameters configurable ability to temporary disable any amount of legs (still plotted as grey line) iv page iv smile and spreads moved here random toolbox trader's statistics and random charts simulator (monte-carlo simulation, automatic kelly criterion calculation) screener page somewhat naive screener for abnormal extrinsic values, since it has little value with delayed quotes, but.. prepared the system for using realtime data via the separated plugin (concept was successfully tested with interactive brokers on my local machine).
