Took the ride up in the ES, and got out at 4397. But that not's one of my favorite trades, that would be the good old round number trade. Took a short at 4399.5 with a 1.5 stop if it kept powering up. 4400 being the magic round number I was looking at. Maybe would have filled 4400, but I have missed quite a few getting picky. 3 contracts, out at 94. I love this week. Peace, have a great weekend
Automation had gotten short Lumber btw 1550 and 1580 and reversed tad over 500/hedged. Took 4 tries/hedged for add on trades in energies, still long. Scalping averages continues to decline, turning off all but 2 systems. Shuffling funds to option selling. Risk to reward in scalping don't warrant going for 1-3 ticks, these systems require tighter price action as they scalp noise. I really prefer very long term commodities trading and directional put option selling.
I haven't done much position trading in commodities in years. The only one I take for swings is the 10 yr Note. My day trading is primarily equity indexes, crude, and again the 10yr. I have my long term portfolios of equities which I occasionally day or swing trade, but for the most part are holds. The past 10 years I had been an active writer of covered calls on my portfolio, and I was averaging 2-3 % extra a year, but for some reason this year I have only done two. Again in the past I have used put selling for getting into a position if a stock was to pull back to where I was going to enter anyway, but haven't done so in awhile now. Other than being bored with sitting in front of the computers, it provides an income and I have no boss other than myself.
I daytrade both, and take 2-3 day trades in the 10 year. 10 year has been an excellent swing for me the last couple years.
