On Reddit a post stated that PayPal will charge a $20.00 yearly inactivity fee. I didn't read the comments because I know this has got be FALSE.
The link in the post says there will be an inactivity fee (at least for Canadians). https://www.paypal.com/ca/webapps/mpp/ua/upcoming-policies-full
https://www.paypal.com/uk/smarthelp/article/what-is-the-inactivity-fee-faq4427 This is for a different country, but I'd guess the idea is similar.
Dunno what happened with Paypal but it's becoming very unscrupulous and its level of service has been deteriorating for the past two or three years. If you ever use foreign currencies, Payal now forces you to use their exchange rate only that is at least several percentages higher than your credit card company's. They used to allow you the option to choose the exchange rate that you want to use in the "Settings" and then they quietly removed it from the platform without informing anybody. So if you didn't elect to use your credit card company's foreign exchange rate before, now you are forever stuck in using Paypal's non-competitive exchange rate forever should you ever make a purchase using foreign currency. Ever since the pandemic, its phone support has been completely closed and all it had was chat service and it wasn't even live chat. All you could do was send a message and then you have to wait for an email to be informed if somebody is on to chat with you and that usually take for days and then the chat would get disconnected and you would get a new chat person who would have no idea what was discussed and you would have to start all over with the whole story again. It was absolutely horrible! Not sure if this is maybe due to a change in management that we are not aware of or Payal is losing money but Paypal now is almost unrecognizable. Won't be surprised if it's going to be taken over by somebody soon.
paypal automatically taxes me + 6% on all my transactions. they have removed the option to send money to a friend or family. It's really weird.
Mail from eBay today: The way you receive your payments has changed! Now your income is paid directly to your Payoneer account. What does this mean to you? • Your payment will be transferred directly to your Payoneer account, and not to your PayPal account, regardless of the payment method chosen by the buyer. Once the buyer's payment is confirmed, we will make the payments within two business days. • Your sales charges and other commissions will be automatically deducted from your earnings. Last reminder! All you need to do is register before August 30, 2021, so you can continue to create and edit listings, relist items, and keep your listings running. When you update your account information, your listings will be restored. You can easily relist your items from the Unsold Items section of My eBay.
What if you have multiply accounts and forgot the username/password for all of them? Will that affect your credit score? I don't think they required tax id/SIN to open a paypal account at that time.
Paypal does suck in general. But I find myself logging in more than ever these days. I use my Paypal account to invest in cryptos.
