I'll be here, if the cloudiness forecast pans out and we have clear skies. https://www.google.com/maps/@44.938...WzJ69p3HBC6wsYOA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?entry=ttu It is your opportunity to meet me, and punch me in the face if you wish. It is also like 15 mins to Canada if I need to flee people wanting to punch me in the face.
It was intense, man. Clear skies, beautiful weather. When I got there early in the morning after a short 4-hour drive, I scoped out my spot above, and decided to check out Canada in the interim for a better spot. After seeing the BLAH that was north of the border, I came back to the border crossing to a Tim Horton's. A cream cheese bagel for $3.20 CAD? Seemed a little pricey, so I said fuck it and settled into my original spot with a view like this... Jay Peak In the background, in the middle, is Mount Mansfield in Stowe, tallest peak in VT at ~4300 feet? (You need zoom-in skills for that one.) The return trip was a bit dicier. I left at ~4PM for home, and arrived 12.5 hours later at ~4:30 AM. Yes, half the world came to northern VT to see this thing, and a particularly bad accident on I-93 south at Franconia Notch added 8 hours to everyone's trip south since they had closed the Interstate, along with another accident some miles past that that also caused a closure. Good grief. But it was worth it. Bucket-list item checked! Best picture I could muster on my older iPhone. Ug. It has no comparison to the real thing in person... And by the way...When you hear all the newscasters talking about that "solar flare" on the bottom of the coronal disc? No!! That is called a solar prominence. Mark it, dudes.
Not all round objects were in the sky that day ... https://www.tmz.com/2024/04/09/eclipse-flashing-live-tv-mexico-rcg-media/
