ObamaCare screw up sends callers to cupcake shop By Tara Palmeri and Beth DeFalcoOctober 30, 2013 | 2:53am Thanks to ObamaCare, New Yorkers can now get health insurance with rainbow sprinkles. In yet another bungle for the botched government insurance rollout, the state Health Department has mistakenly listed numerous non-health-related business as enrollment sites â including a Brooklyn cupcake shop that has been besieged by callers. âI have nothing to do with this,â said Carmen Rodriguez owner of Brooklyn Cupcake in Williamsburg. âI run a very busy establishment, and Iâm like, what is going on?â Because of the mistake, her bakery has gotten 150 calls from people seeking medical-insurance information. âThere has to be somebody who can help with ObamaCare; thatâs their own mess,â she said. The cupcake maker is at her witâs end. âI donât want to be listed, because they are calling my telephone off the hook,â she said. In nearby Red Hook, the dispatcher for a limo company was equally puzzled at finding his company to be among those listed as enrollment sites. âIf you want me to get you a car, I can help you out,â said Allen Amor of Apex Car & Limo. But ObamaCare? Sorry, wrong number. Amar Git, owner of Desi Deli in Hellâs Kitchen, said he couldnât possibly help navigate ObamaCare because he doesnât have insurance himself. âHow can it be? How can I help?â he asked rhetorically. http://nypost.com/2013/10/30/busine...ers-after-obamacare-enrollment-listing-error/
