Pentagon moves about 1,600 Army troops into the Washington region

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon has moved about 1,600 U.S. Army troops into the Washington, D.C., region, the Pentagon said on Tuesday, after several nights of violent protests in the city.

“Active duty elements are postured on military bases in the National Capitol Region but are not in Washington, D.C.,” Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Rath Hoffman said in a statement.

He said the troops were on “heightened alert status” but “are not participating in defense support to civil authority operations.”

Senior defense officials had said on Monday that units would be moving into the Washington region.

The troops include military police and those with engineering capabilities, along with an infantry battalion, Hoffman said.

  2. This is what happens when a real President meets his people.

So, just so I understand your perspective, Spike.

Peaceful protests are allowed, but protesters (some, not all) decided this isn't enough and they go out beating people, burning buildings, looting stores and generally acting like underdeveloped homo-sapiens. This forces local government to install a curfew with the intent of making it easier to determine who is out to break the law and who is there to peacefully protest. Because if you're there to peacefully protest, you follow the law and go home. I mean, you can protest all day long, just not past 7PM when the bad guys come out.

So temporary curfew is put in place for 7PM. But some "peaceful protesters" don't care about this law, and still want to "peacefully protest" past the time allowed by law. So they decide to stand up to the police. The police, moving to enforce the law encounter people who do not want to disperse. So they use non-lethal force to get people to disperse. As part of the action in dispersing the crowd, some of the "peaceful protesters" who are out breaking the law get hit by some of the non-lethal actions, and get hurt.

And this, in the mind of a liberal, is the fault of the police?

  5. At this point we can conclude there are no peaceful protesters out after curfew. Perhaps not violent to the degree of Antifa, BLM and other assorted criminals, but they are acting as willing participants and providing cover for the more violent types.Their willful ignorance does not excuse them from their actions. If you're out after curfew, you get what you get, same as some numbskull wearing a MAGA hat while confronting the mob. Look for trouble, get trouble. Stay home.

Right! But lets post pictures of people who were hurt after curfew by the police as more evidence the police are "rayciss". That helps our cause!

This is typical of left posters who can never take a position on anything lest they have to defend those positions. You'll always see the defense "please show me where I said" without actually clarifying what it was they said. They leave the effort on the person reading to draw a conclusion. This is how cowards operate. The brave take a stand one way or the other.

You posted a screenshot of an individual who was hit by the police by a foam rubber bullet. The picture quite dramatically shows the injuries suffered by the rubber bullet. The commentary around the picture is decidedly negative to the police and takes the side of the "protester".

Please clarify what your point of posting this was, if it was not to say the police acted irresponsibly.

  9. Of course you guys were all up in arms when the protesters with guns stood on the steps of the State Capital to protest the stay at home order that they were violating and you agree they should have been arrested or the cops could have beat them and it was ok....

stay at home order.....curfew.....both should be equal right?
