AT had a chance to catch up with Steven Emerson, head of The Investigative Project on Terrorism, and hear his assessment of the ISIS threat here on American soil. Emerson runs the country’s top data center on Islamic terror groups in the United States, working like a man possessed, and accomplishing the work of thousands on sheer guts and determination to protect our country. Wherever the bad guys have been caught and prosecuted successfully, you will find Emerson working quietly behind the scenes as an invaluable ally of the FBI and Homeland Security. Because he accepts no money from the government, Emerson has been free of the diktats of the Obama administration that have forbidden the FBI to train their sights on Muslim terrorists. (That means The Investigative Project needs your help to continue its work.) In the words of U.S. Representative Pete Hoekstra, Ranking Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence: The Investigative Project on Terrorism is critical to our nation's security. There is no other non-governmental group that has better intelligence or data on the threat to the United States and our allies. Making do with a bare bones budget, the IPT is a national treasure whose influence and achievements are unparalleled. It is not an exaggeration to say that because of Democrat political correctness hamstringing our FBI agents, they could not combat the Islamists in our midst without Steven Emerson. Oliver "Buck" Revell, former head of FBI Investigations and Counter-Terrorism, said as much in these words: “The Investigative Project has been one of the most important sources of accurate and timely information on the real goals and objectives of the wide spread and powerful Islamist movement.” The FBI turns to Emerson to find out what is happening. So does AT. This is what Emerson told us: Isis is Al Qaeda 3.0. They are already in the United States and the only reason there has not been a terror attack is that they have not decided to do it yet. The chief danger Steven Emerson sees is that there are three to four hundred ISIS killers in Syria and Iraq with American passports, who can return whenever they want, and the Obama administration is blocking the FBI from monitoring them in mosques. As Emerson told Judge Jeannine Pirro on Fox News: The FBI has been handcuffed in terms of investigating religious extremists in mosques, as a result of guidelines put out by the attorney general earlier this year. And so therefore, there is… a definite problem now in investigating those militants in the United States who are either recruiting for ISIS or have returned from Syria or Iraq having fought for ISIS, and are ready to carry out freelance or directed terrorist attacks on behalf of ISIS against the United States… the Department of Justice [which] put out guidelines that restricted the FBI and other law enforcement agencies from using religious factors in identifying threats, national security threats to the United States in the homeland. …we're seeing ISIS recruiting biophysicists, engineers, social media types, people who have expertise in really carrying out sophisticated terrorist attacks coming back to the United States. there's one recruiter that [had been]... picked up [in the past], well identified, in Bloomington, Minnesota at the Al Farooq Mosque. There are recruiters going around the country in other mosques, where they identify potential volunteers. They test them out to see if they're willing to die on behalf of martyrdom of the cause for Allah. Then they give them cash, they provide money for their families in case they die. They give them tickets to go to Turkey. Turkey has allowed them, hundreds, to go through to Syria, then to Iraq. And we [the U.S.] count Turkey as one of our top allies. We haven't put [many of] them on the terrorism watch list, which we should. So there's a major disconnect, Judge, here between what we should be doing to protect the homeland and protect American citizens. Question for our Congress: Obama will do nothing to revoke the passports of American ISIS maniacs. What are you doing about it? related: Iraqi intelligence uncovers ISIS plot to attack New York, Paris subways, PM says NEW YORK – Iraq's prime minister said Thursday his country's intelligence operation has uncovered a plot for an imminent attack on subway systems in United States and Paris. Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said he was told of the plot by Baghdad, and that it was the work of foreign fighters of the Islamic State group in Iraq. Asked if the attacks were imminent, he said, "Yes." Asked if the attacks had been thwarted, he said, "No." Al-Abadi said the United States had been alerted. He made the remarks at a meeting with journalists on the sidelines of a gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly. In addition to the brutality Islamic State has visited on the people of Iraq and Syria, western leaders have voiced concern that the group would turn its terror operations outside the region. A U.S.-led coalition opened airstrikes inside Syria on Monday, expanding weeks of attacks by the United States on Islamic State targets in Iraq.
I hate to make this political but clearly there is a politcal component to it. Obama and Holder have bent over backwards to accommodate muslim radicals, both here and in the ME. The republican leadership should be loudly complaining about this edict restricting the use of religion and putting mosques off limits. Of course, they will have to get past Bush's "religion of peace" nonsense to do so, but the alternative is to be complicit in obama's treachery. When, not if, another attack occurs here, they will be in a position to point out how obama's foolishness or worse contributed to it.
Speaking of mosque recruiting: Radical cleric Choudary among nine arrested in UK counter-terror raids Police have arrested Anjem Choudary, one of the most high-profile Islamists in Britain, and raided 19 premises including one containing a sweet shop as they investigated the alleged encouraging of terrorism. Choudary, 47, was one of nine men arrested by officers from Scotland Yard’s counter-terrorism command on Thursday morning. Police gave only sparse details, but the men were arrested on suspicion of being members of a proscribed organisation, or supporting a proscribed organisation, as well as encouraging terrorism. Choudary has gained publicity for statements over the years that inflamed some people, but which stayed on the right side of the law. He is a former lawyer and self-styled preacher and says he is an expert in Islamic or sharia law. One of the addresses raided by police contains the Yummy Yummy sweet shop in east London. This afternoon officers answered the shop’s door and officers could be seen inside the shop. On Thursday morning Choudary’s phone was uncharacteristically switched off and a chat group he uses to communicate his message was silent, saying it was last viewed at 5.33am. The men arrested were aged from 22 to 51 years old and were all detained in London. Police said a total of 19 addresses were being searched, mostly in London, including community premises as well as residential and business addresses. One address is in Stoke-on-Trent in the Midlands, 11 are in east London, one is in west London, one is in north-west London and five are in south London. Neighbours said Choudary appeared to have moved out of his semi-detached home in Walthamstow, north-east London, last week and that there had been significant police activity at the address over the weekend. “The police activity was definitely last week,” said one neighbour, who declined to be named. “Police officers came round and went up the doorstep – two were walking around constantly and there were three police cars parked down the road. They were in pairs. A police car came round a few times. Later that evening I saw the light on upstairs after the police had gone.” The neighbour added that Choudary lived in the house for two or three years but removed some belongings last week. “We’ve had leaflets from rightwing groups put though our door saying ‘do you know he lives down your street?’,” the neighbour said, adding that they were on “nodding terms” with Choudary. Another neighbour, Derek Rayner, 70, said Choudary “kept himself to himself” but was not popular with local residents. “He hasn’t done me any harm personally and he hasn’t done his neighbours any harm, but I just don’t want him on my doorstep,” Rayner said. On Thursday morning the property where Choudary lived was covered in scaffolding, with a number of workers leaving and entering the house. It is unclear whether Choudary has moved out of the address permanently or just until the works, which started several weeks ago, are completed. In a statement the Met said: “These arrests and searches are part of an ongoing investigation into Islamist-related terrorism and are not in response to any immediate public safety risk.” Those arrested in Thursday’s raids are being held at police stations in the capital. The Met said: “Officers from the Metropolitan police service’s counter-terrorism command have arrested nine men this morning, Thursday, 25 September, on suspicion of being a member of a proscribed organisation [or] supporting a proscribed organisation contrary to section 11 and 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and encouraging terrorism contrary to section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006.” http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/sep/25/nine-arrested-london-anti-terrorism
Obama still doesn't get it. Those that are true believers of the Obama myth still don't get it. He, and they really thought that his mere presence would somehow bring peace to the ME. The awarding of the Nobel Peace prize before he did anything was proof of that. Obama and his starry eyed flock never had a plan to deal with Radial Islam if they rejected him, and the Obama Klan are now caught is a state of disbelief. They simply cannot comprehend that the messiah failed to deliver the peace. Obama knows, his true believers know, hell even I know that Obama is the best deal Radical Islam is ever going to get in an effort to find some kind of peaceful arrangement between them and the rest of the world. The next president, regardless of party, will not be anywhere near as "understanding". Their total rejection of Obama and his never ending apologies should show everyone that this group will not negotiate. They will not surrender. They will not stop until they're all dead, or we're all dead. The sooner we accept that reality, the sooner we do what needs doing.
