Point number one: Joe is a one-termer or less. Arguably much less. Nothing new there. Point number two: Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Michelle, Jim Clyburn etc. wanted Susan Rice to be the dem nominee, and most definitely wanted her to be the VP as the consolation prize- but they could not get around the reality of having to deal with the progressive loons and had to toss them their bones. Rice is an Obama insider and a beltway insider. And importantly, all of Rice's experience has been in foreign affairs - either diplomacy or the intelligence community so Obama and company had a hard time marketing her as someone who could deal with domestic affairs - especially in the middle of all the blm loon stuff. And let us agree, as Point number three, that she in fact has squat for domestic affairs background so those criticisms of the gaping hole in her resume are extremely valid. So, having said the above, we were all treated last week to the announcement of Susan Rice as Biden's Chief Domestic Policy advisor and head of the Domestic Policy Advisory Council. WTF? Yep. Obama and company are positioning her and making a move to fill in her resume in the area where she is most vulnerable. Nothing like giving her the top domestic policy advisory role as a way to get some domestic policy experience. Welcome to the beltway. Susan Rice is Kamala's biggest threat in the administration. Joe and Obama's go-to girl in DC is Susan Rice - Kamala is just a needed concession to the left. Joe and Obama's other girl is John Kerry. No one can think of any area other than Willie's willy where Kamala has experience. When it comes to playing beltway power games, Kamala is not even on the same planet with Rice. In an aside, I figured that it was just a matter of days until Valerie Jarrett joined the administration so that the entire Obama team would be back but that has taken a different twist. Obama had Joe pick the Obama Foundation director - a black guy because skin color is the deciding factor- as deputy treasury secretary- and has moved Valerie Jarrett into the position of Obama Foundation director. Same idea- Obama still moving the bodies around and getting his people positioned for his purposes.
