I know some traders prefer to trade only one instead of the other. What are the main differences between the two? Are they really that different when it comes to intraday movements?

I suggest you take a peak at a LEVEL II for a NASDAQ stock vs a NYSE stock and see for yourself!

  3. They are pretty much the same ever since the hybrid market hit the NYSE.

  4. NYSE is a highly prestiageous stock exchange providing a trading floor for the most successful companies than Nasdaq.

    Examples:

    LEH
    BSC
    C
    AIG
    FNM
    FRE
    GM
    F

The list goes on and on...

And don't forget Krispy Kreme: KKD!

  5. NASDAQ has flakier data feeds.

ARCA and BATS are my favorite ECNs now. NYSE seems to have picked up some slickness from ARCA.

    There is a more up to date video here;
IBM [retired] specialist noted he prefers something better than MSFT for intraday .[Something like finding some thing better than taking 00.50 out of MSFT @ $330]:D:D
So yes , but other ways to do it also, even though one averages less slippage.
I personally think that was $330 noted maybe, was when he was in IBM, but dont know:caution::caution:

I assume this was meant as sarcasm.

The 2008-2009 threads are the best and funniest in retrospect. I still remember one thread about how down 10 handles is the new bear market.
