Would be interesting if all the major brokers and option exchange went along... seems like they'd have to.
One of the worst ideas I’ve heard. There’s already a lot of dead hours in the market. So they want to buy mini dips and make small V’s in the middle of the night?
Not one of the worst ideas ever. The worst idea ever is not opening them 24/7 Everything is electronic now and global, so 24/7 is where markets will trade, a 6.5 trading hour should be non existent in 2024, this isn't 1973 it's 2025!!!! Money never sleeps so why the fu*k should wallstreet ...
No one is forcing you or any trader to stay up 22 hours a day to trade, anyone could work 2 full times jobs if they choose to, do they? No...so stay with your 6.5 hour trading days and let the others take part in the longer 22 hr trading day.
Most of trading base on the overall trading volume is done through automated algos anyway, they never sleep and always look for opportunities. And more trading opportunities for good setups means more money can be made. So this is definitely a win. Second not everyone is living in the same time zone, so even discretionary traders across the globe can profit from extended trading hours. And the US markets are main hotspot worldwide still based on the trading volume.
A great development (I consider this as a major change for the US equity market, something that doesn't happen often). It would be nice if the hours of the regular session are also extended (say an hour per day extra). But unfortunately no plans for that yet.
