Wow. The entire NYSE exchange and the Wall Street Journal web site are now down. Talk about a major debacle. Is it just a bizarre coincidence or is there something more to it?

Stocks stopped trading on the NYSE at around 11:32 AM. The same listed stocks being traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market and Bats Global Markets aren't affected.

All open orders on the NYSE are cancelled.

    Europe is on fire.
    China is on fire.
UAL grounds planes due to "computer glitch"
US indexes at or near major support.

What's the big deal? Move along, there is nothing to see.

  5. UAL and NYSE says it was internal glitches, FBI says it is monitoring situation. Something smells fishy. China halt on same day, quite a coincidence, if you believe in those.

Is there any doubt its some kind of cyber attack? Of course it would not be admitted to until later to prevent panic. It seems like any non attack software or hardware issue could be resolve rather quickly.
