NYC Mayor Adams targets 'drill rap' videos on social media, saying they promote gun violence Adams, elected last year to replace former Mayor Bill de Blasio, said he hopes to combat the rise of "drill rap," a genre focused on feuds and threats of violence between artists. Adams wants to see the genre banned from social media platforms for the sake of young users. "We pulled Trump off Twitter because of what he was spewing," Adams said Friday. "Yet we're allowing music, displaying of guns, violence. We're allowing it to stay on these sites." ______________________ There should be laws against incitation of the mentally weak in violence prone communities.
What about all the movies on TV that have gun violence, police shootouts, murders, gang violence, horror movie murders, and so on ? Seriously, several decades ago there was a small part of the population that stated such types of movies will lead to an escalation in violence in our society. The movie studios came to an agreement to put "ratings" on movies and age limits with such ratings. I mention this because certain types of music can be banned (e.g they tried to ban music by Elvis Presley) on radio... it's still going to be pirated (extremely popular) and listened on portable music players or whatever it is that teenagers use these days. The violence these days in movies is just as crazy as music about violence. P.S. My grandmother told my mom that if she keeps listening to music by Mr. Presley...she was going to get pregnant from all of that hip shaking when she was a teenager. wrbtrader
They didnt really imo.Adams only won because the 2 female progressive anti police brutality candidates split the progressive vote.Prior to the election many were calling for one of them to drop out because they knew this could happen. One was black and the other was hispanic so they also split that vote allowing Adams to win with the white moderate pro police brutality vote.
I see. I didn't follow. Was the combined vote enough to beat Adams? Were both prog candidates legit or one was there to poison the well?
The combined vote was enough to beat Adams in any round.Wiley and Garcia were both progressive but Wiley more so and Garcia slightly moderate on some issues. Both said stop and frisk was wrong and they would not try to bring it back.Even with Wiley and Garcia splitting the vote Adams won by less than 1%
