BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WBMA) — Protesters gathered in front of The Woolworth bar in Five Points South in downtown Birmingham Saturday.

They say the initial dress code the bar posted a few days ago is racist.

The bar posted to its website saying jerseys or athletic wear, cargo pants, construction boots, skullcaps, bandanas, chains and clock necklaces are not allowed.

Later the bar issued an apology for its dress code and removed it.

  2. If the bar wants no customers than that is fine..

1000's of bars have dress codes like this.

  4. If it is a fancy bar looking for high end clientele then those dress code items should not be a problem. When I go to watch football or soccer at a bar it is usually a bar that wants fans to come and watch football and soccer or is casual.

If people do not like a dress code it was probably a stuffy fancy bar I guess and most would not want to go anyway.

  5. Keeping the low life clientele OUT is important to some bars. Why let the low life's in?
