Joe Biden's administration will skip University of Notre Dame commencement after abortion row | Daily Mail Online President Biden will not be giving the commencement speech at Notre Dame It is unclear whether Vice President Kamala Harris was invited to give a speech It marks the first time in three administrations in which neither a president nor a vice president gave a commencement speech in his or her first term White House officials said Biden was invited to speak but declined due to a previous engagement The announcement came after more than 4,000 students, alumni and other community members at the Catholic university signed a petition They urged Notre Dame President Fr. John Jenkins not to invite Biden, who is also Catholic, over his pro-choice views
Being a 50 year career loser and politician is nothing honorable, actually it's the opposite, so I'm not surprised
So much for open minded university..... let me guess... they do not teach about divorce or parts of the Bible where women are treated like cattle... typical Catholic hypocrites..
What the fuck does that detritus even mean? With what part of the real doctrine do you have an issue and why?
Hmm, here's their petition... https://sycamoretrust.org/take-action/petitions-open-letters/dont-invite-biden-to-speak/
Biden and Pelosi can be whatever they wish to be... but if they are going to continually proclaim (implicitly or explicitly) how Catholic they are... then they should be called out for being against one of the core beliefs that the taking of innocent human life is anathema. Now does that mean we as Catholics or the priests in charge are not hypocrites...nope. Far from it. But... if you are going to around parading your Catholicism for million to see you should be at least struggle to try and follow the doctrine.
That is kind of the point with Catholics...calling out others while not following the doctrine themselves. But it is true of all groups who try to impose their beliefs (GOP, Dems, religious conservatives...) Abortion is a legal issue that a Catholic or Non-Catholic President really has no power over. They may not like that Biden is Pro-Choice but even if he were Pro-Life, there is nothing he can do on the subject. He is not a dictator that can declare all abortions illegal in an EO... I doubt he was going there to speak and stand up for abortion...
You know the ubiquitous seen in the Mafia movies where the Godfather or other Mafia leader is sitting in Church at their child's Baptism, Communion or Confirmation and then the director / editor cuts to the violence as their hit men are taking out the other mafia family or the politician they hate... or the fink who testified... And we all see the hypocrisy of the Mafia guy in general and blame all Catholics / Christians for hypocrisy .... That is Pelosi and Biden right now. They should not be pretending to be good Catholics... and going to Church receiving Communion and supporting the death of innocent humans at the same time.... it hurts those who do try to follow the doctrine. (it would be different analysis if they did this in private.) Biden, Pelosi, Cuomo are hurting the Church in myraid ways and the Church leaders and Pope himself should be calling them out as to not do so undermines the Church itself and what it stands for... imo. For instance the Pope was willing to call out Trump (and to some degree conservatives) every other month and Trump was not Catholic.
The issue of whether Biden should be allowed to take communion/the Eucharist in church has been sort of look-the-other-way or look-but-then-let-it-go issue for a long time. I take points away from the Catholic church for being chickenshit on that. However, there are rumblings and actions about in the direction of actually addressing that issue. So I temporarily restore those points. There are those who properly assert that these are religious matters and not for the public to take sides on, etc., etc. and that view has merit. However, it becomes convoluted when a candidate- let's just call him Joe Biden- asserts that he is a "devout Catholic" for the purpose of gaining favorable public view or votes. In which case, his assertions are properly subject to examination. Not only by the public but by authorities within the group that he purports to be a devout member of. MORE TO COME. Apparently sooner rather than later. April 28, 2021 US Catholic bishops may press Biden to stop taking Communion https://apnews.com/article/health-c...ics-religion-22e0d1ba299fe8693013036e3cc85c81
