Not "Trading Software" specifically, but W10

  1. Here I am... working the transition to W10 from W7... and I'm not happy.

My W7 network was installed in 2012 and is still working, "smooth as a gravy sandwich" on the original install.

Now, Microsoft tells me I have to junk all of that and redo it on W10. Well, I've messed with W10 on a "trial" basis... and have had to reinstall the W10 OS, 5 F'n TIMES* in less that one year.. to fix "corruption" issues.... all so that MSFT can "track" everything I do online and sell my personal info and online behavior to marketers**. (I got news for them bastards... I ain't buyin' nothin' from nobody! I can figure out how to spend my money without anybody's help!)

*Fortunately reinstalling the OS is not as painful a process as it could be, but still.... it's not that the whole system becomes facacta, but some "thing" goes wocky .. and the fix is, "reinstall the OS". Who wants to be doing that all the time?

** Do you all realize the degree/significance of all this "tracking"? They want to know your "location".... in case you're walking down the street... and there's a Starbucks nearby... "wanna drop in for a coffee?"... or next block there is a Chipotle... "wanna burrito for lunch?"... Holy Crap. How invasive.

Microsoft tells us the reason we want/need to use W10 is because it's "more secure" and has "more features". The REAL reason is that they want to "monetize their OS"... that is, monitor everything we do online and sell it to marketers!!

No wonder people hate Windows 10/Microsoft!

    :(

I used to be a fancy IT guy and I still use 8.1 on my production machines, same speed as 10, same threading improvements etc. for some apps that benefit from this and rock solid stable.

I have seen too many W10 updates that caused unacceptable issues (friends etc. bring me their problems).

Don't move from 7 on production, there is no need. Simply do your internet browsing on a separate system or in a virtualized browser.

My last 3 machines I’ve had were windows 8, 8.1 and 10. Never had an issue ever with an update. Mind you my use is simply. office suite and OneNote, Amibroker, pc games and a browser.

Actually I remember 5 years ago my pc went into endless update blue screen.

Thought about trying Linux but seems like more hassle for my use. Dealing with wine, getting drivers for laptop wireless cards and finger sensors seems like hit or miss .

  5. I use Linux all the time on my dual-boot machine. Very stable. Windows is too bloated for me.
