The new economy...getting paid 6-7 figures for posting on social media platforms.... Yes I know this isn't new however it seems we now have to see more worthless advertising in areas we never thought we would see it ....Instagram used to be in its own little world until facebook bought them and started to revamp everything on there...YouTube used to be in its own little world until Google came and bought them.....now every other post or video clip is an advertisement..... And the people posting get paid very well for doing nothing...I bet 3/4 of them don't even use the product they are showing off on their social media feed.... Plus do 18-34 year olds really want to see those worthless advertisements... Nope.....

Anyway go out there gather up 500,000 followers across all platforms and take in free money....I think it might be as easy as making free money in this fed driven stock market rally.

The trading equivalent is to do a binary options signal service and publicise it by covering your flash car in gold wrap.

The net will always find new niches to promote things, but over time the surfers develop a "blind spot" and ignore it. People learn really fast when they see the same thing over and over again.

These kids spend all their time looking at social media on their phones. That is all well and good, and you would think it would be an advertising boom.... which it is. The trouble is,.... as an aggregate, these kids really have no money to buy anything. Buy the time you pay rent, car, utilities, PHONE, CC debt, student loans.... etc etc...... Gen X'rs and Millennials are gonna be some broke ass mother f***ckers.... and all these businesses that are based on ad revenue... are gonna die because ad dollars dry up when no one is buying the products the ads are pumping. In a nutshell, imo, any business model right now that is based soley on ad revenue, aside from Google(diverse).... is going the way of the dinosaur. Its the next trend.

  5. It's probably a bit harder than you think to get 500,000 followers. Sure there are tons of pages with that many, but of the billion people on social media, most don't have anything like that. You've got to have something people want to see or just be really good at sharing other people's stuff directly from your page (and usually not giving credit/pretend it is your own)

Twitter offers its star users revenue-sharing for video
Twitter wants social media celebrities to post videos on its platform, offering a revenue splitthat would give 70 percent to the content creator and the remaining 30 percent to Twitter. The offer is sweeter than YouTube's 55 percent revenue share to content creators, but it's unclear whether Twitter's move is a little too late.(Recode)

As a genX'r (mid 40s) I spend a ton of money as do my contemporaries. Now it's on things like travel, home improvement, and toys (boats, bikes...), 10 years ago it was on baby items, and 10 years before that it was on toys (boats, bikes...). And spend most of my day online, although I run a tech company so maybe more than some of my generation. While millennials may not be saving as much due to student debt, there's nothing to indicate they don't have any discretionary income. I certainly pay my millennial employees well enough to have plenty left over after paying for the basics and their student loans. While that's all anecdotal, I also haven't seen any studies that show this is the case in the aggregate either. Retired folks as a rule have reduced their spending, and since at least half the boomer generation is retired and everyone above them, the ad driven economy is already mainly driven by GenX, Y and Millennials.

Daughters 15 year old friend at high school has almost 300K subs/followers on youtube.
And all she mostly seems to do is post videos of herself kissing her boyfriend in her bathroom while using the Dubsmash app. Some of her video have millions of views.

She one of the couples featured in this video:

Sig.... not sure where you live, but as a whole, most people are really struggling to get by. You sound very successful, and I'm sure in your circles its all great...and you probably have extensive education either by school or hard work.... but travel the country and you'll see you are among the fortunate few. And the Millenials... I know hundreds and hundreds from working with bands, and man I'm telling you.... every damn one is flat ass broke. And they're not all just starving musicians. Why do you think defaults on student loans is at an all-time high? Even with a good degree... 80% are lucky to get a job that enables no wheres near the standard of living the Boomers enjoyed. Not even close. Sure there are exceptions to every rule.... a good coder can start out at $110K I would imagine....nurses... they do decent.... but for every one of these,.... there are hundreds that will NEVER see that level of income. No college education.... then you're really f***cked.

But thats just my opinion... my basic point here is, again, I think any business that is based soley on ad revenue will begin contracting. Thats one of the reasons I'm waiting to pounce on Facebook ....when the time is right. (which its not right now)
