So I am bullish VIAC and I am nibbling/scalping the long side, I ended zigging when I should have zagged and ended up holding 1400 shares @ 40.95 and eventually down 200-300 bucks. So I sold 14, June/4 (short-term calls) strike 41.50 for 1.30 (not a bad price) thinking that in a few days I'll make some money unless VIAC goes back way below the support level of 38.50 (which is not likely at all ), in which case I lose more than I care...so still a VIAC perma bull I am a chicken. I weasel out with a $40 loss after scaling a few shares, and covering my calls, and selling VIAC too soon I might add. I am a daytrader at heart but I wish I was not. I invest in ETF's, funds but I cannot stomach holding a relatively large position like this even with covered calls...even for a few days.
Hmmmm, I don't like the look of that one, my opinion, you're getting in a tad too early. Without digging too deep because I can't be bothered, but just by peeking at chart, can't imagine a fast recovery. My thoughts, probabilities this will follow the 5yr downtrend. Saying that, I don't know enough to make a more valued judgement, would take me too long researching. The best course imo, take a small position initially, imo, you are in too big.
Well, the valuation is over 50 and a lot of merger and inst. action with high volume. I am only in with a call spread. Do not forget, it is only down this much because of forced margin selling... P.S. End before I am told to move this to the stock forum, the jist of my post was my psychological makeup and weak hand, who worries about the long term and losing, even for a daytrade I gave it away too soon. VIAC 41.68 - Fuck me...
yeah, yeah...I meant in case you did not get it, that before anyone on ET brings up the "wrong post subject"...and keep posting about VIAC, the mods will surely move it. In general, I feel I fucked up and I can't get my mojo since I lost 60k and my wife threatened to kill me.
I took my revenge on the market and traded only 500 shares but still refuse to hold options until the expiration. Instead of trailing stops, I use selling the short-term calls against the position locking into profits. Trailing stops often get taken and just frustrate the trader. I used this tactic when SLV was running in 2020 up from 13 to 26. So I make 50 cents on each dollar move just double my size.
