I have been trading with IB for 20 years on and off and now recently, all I get is ? marks in my bid/ask fields for half of my contracts. I have called tech support about 8 times and they try a few things which allow me to get data for a few minutes then it drops again and all I see are ? marks. It seems like a popup or firewall issue but the last tech support dude said mine were all ok. I have all of the required market permissions for what I am trying to look at. Any ideas?
Which tws version are you on? Try updating to the latest, there was an issue with missing data for me too in the previous version that they pushed about 2 weeks ago, I think a bug crept in and the latest version fixed it for me. Though for the gateway I am on stable.
I assume you know, or at least IB support mentioned, but sometimes I don't get bid/ask for some symbols, CTRL - ALT - R will RESET IB, moving to a different server. Other than that, perhaps a firewall, or other software you either installed locally, or was automatically updated. Even a Windows update, could sometimes turn items on, which you had off prior.
That happens to me in Option Trader frequently. I will add/subtract a strike price and when the screen refreshes it's usually fixed. During RTH it's not an issue, only after hours.
Lol, I tried that about a year ago but thank you for such brilliant advice. It turns out most retail customers are allowed only 100 total lines of data which means contracts. For some reason my TWS thought I had anywhere from 113 to 500 lines of data. So I re installed TWS after deleting my current version and it seems to have worked. Will see if it holds up on Monday. You can buy more data in a quote bundle but that costs $30 per hundred additional lines per month.
