Love the publicity Nike is getting.. Unfortunately Duke has a long term contract with Nike so they all have to wear the shoes. First time I ever see that happening so wonder if it will have an effect... In 4 months Zion will have his own shoe deal anyway...
Having a high profile Duke player have his sneaker split in the first few minutes of a game causing him a serious knee injury is at minimum very negative advertising for the particular make of sneaker. I don’t think many fans are going to purchase these sneakers - Nike will likely need to discontinue production and come out with a differently named footgear model.
Quality and Chinese manufacturing are not exactly synomymous. Admittedly, some basketball players are quite large, even by basketball player standards, and once they get their momentum up, most sneakers can be like tissue paper.
Who remembers this? Cost him a world record. https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a20853873/kipchoge-wins-berlin-marathon-despite-shoe-malfunction/ The article doesn't mention it.... but I have traded in and out of Nike for well over a decade.... and I remember it well. He was wearing Nikes. The f'ing glue came undone. But in the first mile, Kipchoge’s left insole began to come loose and slide out of his shoe. By the time he reached 10K mark with the leaders in 29:19, five seconds ahead of world record schedule, his right insole was doing the same. At the pace they were moving at, Kipchoge didn’t dare risk stopping, not only to avoid losing ground but also out of fear of making the situation worse. “I had pain in my foot, but what could I do?” he said. “I had to finish the race.”
Nike running shoes fall apart. New Balance running shoes are indestructible, particularly the training shoes.
Agree. New Balance and ASICS are quality. Great training and running shoes. UA and Nike are complete crap.
