This visual display puts Amazon in a new perspective.... It reminds me of the Stephen King novel where a black cloud / Time swallowed up everything in its path. I think it was The Tommyknockers. 5 years ago people were saying that WM was going to swallow up everything , now it's Amazon. http://www.visualcapitalist.com/extraordinary-size-amazon-one-chart/
No question about it...Slowly, but surely, Amazon has been knocking out the bricks and mortar competition for close to 2 decades now.
Yes, they have. It's kinda sad to see Sears and JCP going bust, but 100-125 years ago; clothes and hardware was sold by mom and pop stores on the corner. Sears ran them out of business by buying in volume and consolidating everything in one place. Sears was famous for its mail order business, they practically invented it. Fast forward 100 years and Sears / JCP .........and WM......have not kept up with the changes. Sears put the mom and pop stores out of business. WM put pressure on Sears and Penneys and the grocery stores by offering everything under one roof and often cheaper. WM offers cheaper products, but ordering online and overnight delivery is not one of their strong points. Amazon is doing to them (Sears, JCP and WM), what they did to the mom and pop stores 100 years ago. And you don't even have to leave home for the experience. Karma gets you every time. I wonder what it will be like a hundred years from now....3D printing at home for everything? No need for Amazon?
