You need an attorney licensed in your state and or the state the business is headquartered. Provided that the llc is making off with your money and that the principles have run out of money as opposed to be determined frauds from the get go... and If the owners have a life or assets... you a need an attorney who can credibly explain to them that if they do not return your money immediately, he will act swiftly to recover your money quickly and in so doing the principles behind the llc will most likely never be able obtain a license to do anything again the rest of their lives.
Agreed - I would go for a business litigation attorney in the state or province where the owners of the business live. They will be all set to issue liens etc., whereas if you go with a general attorney that will be further steps away.
