Need help with multi monitor setup

  1. So I'm pretty set on the specs for my new trading displays but am having a bit of technical trouble and after doing a lot of research I wanted to get some feedback from other traders who may have gone through the same thing.

I basically want to upgrade to six 24 inch dells. Getting the monitors is the easy part. The hard part is finding a good stand that can support > 22 inch screens. I wrote e-mails to to several of the major stand makers and am waiting on responses but it looks like they only sell the setup with the monitors included. Since I don't want to throw away an extra 3K I would rather build it myself.

The other hard part is finding a graphics card that can support 1920x1200 on four screens. I have two pcie 16 slots in my mother board and currently have 2 nvidia 7600's that support two 24inch and two 20inch at 1920x1200 and 1280x1024 respectively.

All the 4 monitor supported cards I could find support only up to 1600x1200 on digital displays. I checked that resolution on my current setup and it looks terrible.

Any advice/opinions or experiences are appreciated.

I had a similar problem a while ago, and the guys here were kind enough to offer some suggestions...

I bought a used Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 PCIe x1, and run 2x24" monitors from there. I have more monitors hooked to this computer, but the NVS290 will power 2 of them, the card comes in 2 flavors: x1 and x16. I think there's another NVidia Quadro that powers 4 24" monitors, you can check at newegg.com or tigerdirect.com, they are pretty expensive though. I hope this helps.

  3. Thank You!!! You solved one of my problems with that link!!

Don't know how I didn't see the Matrox M9140 LP PCIe x16 512MB quad head graphics card!!! Exactly what I need.

Now I just need to find a 6 monitor stand that supports 24 inch monitors.

  5. Will do.

  6. That seems a little advanced for me. I also have a glass desk so I would want a stand as opposed to clamp design. Hopefully they sell the stands already put together but if not I'll look closer at this.
