hi all I would like to open an account to start trading futures, after some research, I think I would like to go with NINJATRADER as the platform however I'm not sure which broker I can go with that is trustworthy and with good service would appreciate if anyone can help or even suggest a broker or platform Thanks in advance
Hi and welcome, if you are new and want to use the NT platform then you should go with Ninjatrader Brokerage. But a nice alternative (in my opinion the better one) is to use AMP Futures as your broker, and Sierra Chart as your trading platform. SC is very light weight, easy to use but very deep, with countless possibilities for experienced traders. Compared to SC, NT is a pretty heavy (on your system) and limited piece of software.
NT can be limited unless you pay for their software. I used AMP and SierraChart. SierraChart is free with AMP. So is MultiCharts. AMP has quite a few platforms to choose from.
Ninja 8 cannot be used for back testing, not sure about Sierra. Be advised that most robot programs are written for Trade Station, some for Ninja, virtually none for Sierra. As for a broker - if you mean an introducing broker, there are over 2000 and the trustworthiness of any of them cannot be measured much less even defined.
Since this July when I came back to the markets from Vanguard, I started with TDAmeritrade. ToS is a great platform but I have to spend a lot on commissions and losing strategies. Since they are going to be Schwab I moved to Schwab and IB, since Schwab has no real trading platform. I have tried AMP and Ninjatrader but I needed a platform to do both options and futures with a full broker, professional level. Interactive Broker (with all their faults is the only player to provide that level of service)
Tradovate is very popular and good with commissions as well. I will transfer over 15k there soon and see what I can do with futures that aren't risky options plays.
I can also really recommend SierraChart. As has been said before it requires much less from your system compared to Ninja, it can take some time to get used to it and to get to know all the functions, but the possibilities are almost endless. Even (semi)automating or generating alerts can be done extremely easy and reliable via the spreadsheets included in the software.
Schwab has no real trading plateform ? Can you tell me what you need from it,? as i regulary place trade at schwab street smart Edge plateform. It has everything except writing code, testing. Else i find it very powerful and user friendly interface. I have IB and TS, i will SSE is better than them in many departments.
