Canada is slowly making it's way to zero commission brokerage. Not sure how the brokerage makes money as selling order flow is not allowed in Canada.

Wealthsimple was the first to offer zero commissions on individual stock but had it's drawback. For one thing trading US stocks required converting to $US to buy then back to $Can when sold.

At any rate NBD now offers accounts that charge zero commissions. As the market has forced me into a high cash position I decided to give them a try.

Any other Canadians here that trade with National Bank?

I get my information on that from an IB ad.

I swing trade so execution isn't that important. I used IB years ago but position size got to the point where a fixed rate was more advantageous.

    Which broker are you using?

It will be interesting to see how a zero commission broker works. For sure it will make scaling in and out of positions less expensive.
