Opening Nanex quote: "Market reaction to the FOMC news was instant. Within a thousandth of a second, the move was already over."

Is this one of those ZHedge moments where an off-the-cuff exaggeration is anticipated to be easily slipped past the uninformed? I had about ~6 secs to digest and manually react. ES Dec13 appreciated approximately 5pts over first 6 secs. Big deal, let the collapsing HFT arena fight for the millisec scraps. I expressed my opinion using 10YRDEC, collected 12 ticks with more than enough time on the initial 30 sec rxn move. There were 21 more ES pts to be collected from 6 sec mark forward over next 1hr. To put it bluntly, the move was far from over. Stick to legitimate claims/problems, ie dissemination of information at different time cycles per special subscriptions feeds.

  4. Not really sure how Nanex talks about 1 millisecond when their own data is timestamped by the 25 milliseconds. Talking about how good the 963 hp on the LaFerrari engine feels based on the ride you got on your 39 hp tractor.

  5. Hahahaha. 6 seconds. LOL.

SPY moved $1.20 before you could read the first word of the release on Bloomberg.

Next time turn off DEMO mode.

  6. Of course insiders know before everyone else.

    Nothing new under the sun.

    It sucks

I bet CMEgroup knows who executed trades . Are they actively pressing to stop insider trading/front running? Are they for a fair exchange? Maybe it was a congressman.

  7. seriously, does anyone actually trade in this board any more? There was about 0.6 seconds time lapse when the eminis blew straight parabolic. Not 6.0 seconds.

these guys post this stuff in defense of HFTs and zero volume like the rest of us weren't sitting there in front of our screens, watching it unfold in living color.

  8. Little stupid today?

Who tells you their data is stamped 1ms? The fact that the data you BUY from them has a 25ms granularity?

The tape granularity is their decision. Their own (raw) data has a lot more granular timestamps.
