We're launching a decentralised crypto options exchange and would love feedback on our potential names. When we think crypto we think counterculture, outsider and some of the names have gone with this theme, others are more trader focused. Can you please let me know which two names you like the most and why? Plus which one you like the least and why?

    Fat tail
    Heretic
    Misfit
    Scalp
    Pips

    Thanks :)

Within the context of how you framed up the counterculture theme, I'd say that Heretic and Misfit are the two names I like the most.

Scalp sounds too general and Pips sounds too related to Forex.

Another thing to keep in mind is that although crypto may seem like counterculture now, the reality is that it likely won't be in the future. In fact, it could become mainstream faster than you realize so if you name your company as if it doesn't fit into the rest of society, you may need to rename it at a later time down the road, which is not a very fun process at all.

Hi Baron, thanks so much for your feedback and time, I am deeply grateful. We've really struggled with the naming, some of the names we like are taken :) finding a good name has been a challange

Well the good news for you is that .com doesn't really mean as much as it used to. I think there's more than 1500 top-level domains these days so that opens up the naming possibilities for you a lot. The .exchange TLD comes to mind for you right off the bat.

Go with Peel. As in David Peel, one of the greatest counterculturalists there was, just lesser-known.

Hmmm. Something new, something creative, something that has never been used.
Coin a word based off an existing word that fits the narrative. My wheelhouse.
    Here ya go:

    Schismata™

    Derived it from "schismatic".
A word the nuns used to banter around when I was a kid.
Very much like "heretic", but it's a word rarely used anymore.
The "mata" at the end subconsciously implies modern via "data".
By definition, it's a perfect fit for the crypto movement.
And... (shhhhhh)... the .com domain is still available. I just checked.
Send me some Bitcoin options if you use it.
    Puts and calls though.
