  1. MYTH #1 - Beer Gives You A Belly

This guy said he cut out beer from his diet!

I almost passed out. How could you cut out something so tasty and expect to live a satisfying life? At 7 calories per gram, alcohol is what scientists call a "non-trivial" calorie source. (A gram of fat has 9 calories, while protein and carbs, including simple sugars, have 4 calories per gram.)

So imagine their surprise when, in a 13-year study of 19,220 people, teetotalers were more likely to become overweight than people who regularly consumed beer, wine or liquor.
In yet another study, research involving over 37,000 non-smokers found that men and women who consumed one alcoholic drink per day three to seven days per week, had the lowest body mass index (BMI). This measurement shows the ratio of height and weight, so the lower the better, to a certain point of course.

The moderate consumption of alcohol is associated with better health and longer life than is either abstaining from alcohol or abusing alcohol. Now, the health benefits of drinking are associated with moderation. Heavy drinking is associated with cirrhosis of the liver, breast cancer, and other health problems. The key word is moderation.
    I'll drink to that!

    Whew, this is good news.

  2. I love beer but you have to acknowledge that calories are calories. Beer has a lot of calories. If you want to slim down you do it by either reducing calories or using more calories. Its really simple...

2 beers a night is approx. 400 extra calories... 400 calories is a medium sized dinner.

The problem with beer is it has a lot of carbs in it. A 12 oz beer has about 13G of carbs in it. If you knock back two or three they add up. If you are going to drink and want to avoid carbs liquer is better.

  4. Yeah I know all that I was looking at the humor in it. Like beer drinkers need an excuse to have a beer.

I am just spit balling here... so don't get out your high nutrition horse and call me an idiot... I make no claims to expertise... but if I were to guess why.... a beer or two would be good for you it would be this..

a good ritual... helps keep the stress down..

    therefore...

    less high caloric foods

also stress messes with your blood sugar levels... which may trigger you bodies desire to store fat.

also for me... it would be beer or desert but not both.

  7. Maybe Obama had something with his beer summit. Seems like almost everybody likes a cold beer. Congress and the Senate should have a few iced down kegs when they're doing business. Hell they couldn't do a worse job and if nothing else it'd be good entertainment.

  8. too much of anything will give you a belly.
