All Elite Trolls note this: I don't need to prove anything to you. I do have my trading account which I don't owe you any discussion on. I am just posting my learning during all these years on my blog on the request of a friend. Since I am anyways posting on my blog, I thought I would provide a link here: http://compellingstocks.com/2024/10/25/my-thoughts-on-technical-analysis-1/
And we have every right to troll you... ET = Elite trolls? Let's get started. First of all, moving averages?
Last Comment: in your blog post from Aug. 9 on short term trading returns you say a skilled trader might earn 1%-3% a month. And then a few paragraphs down you say a buy and hold would likely do better. Really? Better than 12%-36%? Consistently? Color me skeptical.
Yes "learnt" is a word. An alternative past tense to "learned". "Learnt" is commonly used in British countries.
I have my personal experience on this. I deployed investment in VST Industries between Rs.306 and Rs.605 over 18 month period. This was 18 years ago. Last time, the dividend per share received was Rs. 150. Recently the stock split. I zeroed in on this company after researching through about 330 companies during that time. During the time of my purchases, this was 40% of my portfolio. Difficult to beat this kind of return. Oh yes, several other companies performed too from that time. I bought Hind Unilever at Rs. 175 and Bata India at Rs. 80. All of them are good dividend payers. Sill many more performed. Three companies in my portfolio went down to zero. But you know that you should water the plants and remove the weeds. That is long term investing 101. Regarding swing trading when markets are in upswing I did make 7 to 8 % per month. But this is seasonal. Sometimes I don't deploy capital in this approach. So average returns are lesser at 1-3% based on how long the trading winter lasts during which we go into hibernation. I never short shares for this swing trading. So there are periods when we place this approach under pause.
Update on understanding basic trends http://compellingstocks.com/2024/10/26/my-thoughts-on-technical-analysis-2/
Since I keep getting updates to this topic and don't know how to turn them off I will respond. What's the point of this? This is totally rudimentary technical analysis...you do realize this is Elite traders right? Now I'm the first one to point out the short comings of TA knowledge around here but still...
