My CQG saga with AMP Futures

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by TimtheEnchanter, Sep 22, 2020.

  1. Well, this morning I got my account set up and CQG user id and password emailed. The kicker is that for CQG you need two passwords one to setup the non-professional data user and the second to do order routing and login to AMP. SOmehow AMP never sent me the first user id and password so I was sweating for an hour to figure out what was going on. Finally, after I got my first use id and login. I have tried to get into AMP via CQG windows desktop. It would not work. The AMP support tried to get into my machine remote;ly but he could not see my CQG app since I was in Windows emulation on my Mac. Then I was told to log in to m.cqg.com (the browser app) and lo and behold the login worked. Still, we cannot figure out why the CQG Qtrader would not work. Same user id the same password!
Now I am in demo mode, trying to navigate and get used to the software. So far so good. I am used to the simple functionality of ToS, but AMP commissions are hard to beat!
P.S. The AMP European support was not as good as the US support guy who actually knew what he was doing...
P.P.S. I made over $600(paper dollars) demoing ES, (EP?) at CQG...

"Windows emulation on my Mac". Dump the toy.

Don't take this personally. Understand the account on-boarding is a very efficient process. If there is something wrong, it is probably you.

i've been trading with CQG with AMP for years. no issues (except for the rare CQG downtimes), quick support

But now i'm with tradovate (Dorman). Still execute my trades through CQG desktop

I left AMP cause i'm a greedy bastard looking for more margins and cheaper comm. Tradovate's free comm membership is $348/month (or $199/month paid annually) which results in $2.68RT ($3.28 with CQG). Best for higher account size.

  4. Is there any negative (security) aspect of using browser-based trading software?

lol triggered. judging by the fact that you can't follow simple sequence of events by these post replies

all cqg users need to sign a EULA doc before they can login into the platform.

must've missed that instruction in your porn subscription emails..

Probably not. But, explore CQG a little more. You may discover naunced features made for a professional trader's workflow. We should treat our trading like a business right? Get out of your comfort zone.
