Mutual Fund Inflow/Outflow

Discussion in 'Strategy Building' started by Trader922, Apr 29, 2009.

  1. I'm looking to incorporate Mutual Fund Inflow/Outflow Data into one of my trading systems.

Does anyone know of sources for this data? A lot of the sources I came across had a significant lag to them.

I found AMG Data Services (www.amgdata.com) but am wondering if there are other sources for this info.

    Regards,

  2. Develop friendships with people who work at Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab et al who can tell you what's going on at their firms on a real-time basis in exchange for steak dinners.

  3. These guys have a model that predicts flows based on lagged flows and returns.

  4. Thanks for all the replies.

I suspect I'll end up using the AMG Data, but am still looking for other sources.

    Regards,
    Eric

  5. ?.......When the market goes up, there are net inflows. When the market goes down, there are net outflows. That sounds "sophisticated" enough.

  6. Maybe so but I think it is a neat trick that their model identifies stocks that funds are about to dump ahead of time and they go down.

  7. Do those stocks go down because of massive, collective selling or is the model really "that good".
