Not a good position to be in. I am not awake yet here on the west coast so cannot do a babble about Alaska's new ranked choice ballot system but y'all probably have some familiarity. In a tight race, in November it means that voters 2nd and 3rd choices can get added in as they try to achieve a majority for one candidate. So how people voted for their second choice will be a big factor Murkowski and her Trump-backed opponent, Tshibaka, will both make it to the November vote, looks like. Alaska does not do a party primary thing. In their new system they just put up the top four candidates and the top four are the top four. They could all be one party, theoretically. But the fact that Murkowski is struggling to gain a lead in the primary means she will struggle against her in November too, because her opponent will be there too. (keep in mind it is a top four primary system, so you don't knock off you opponent if that person is still in the top four.) Long winded way of saying that it would be sweet to see Murkowski go down too. Yeh, she voted to impeach Trump but it is more than that. She voted against Kavanaugh too. Say what? Lisa gonna suddenly be spending a lot more time in Alaska, rather than the Beltway, in the next couple months. Funny how that happens.
