Has anyone recently used Multicharts, Sierra and Investor RT? Please comment on pros and cons of each.

I've used Sierra charts for years. The product is great and their support is excellent. The only drawback is the monthly subscription :)

They do a free trial if you want to try it first. Can't speak for the others.

Sierra is reliable and complete, also if you adept in C++, sky is the limit.

All three are capable platforms, but each has their own specific ‘flair’ that makes them better to use than another depending on your trading style.

InvestorRT’s great strength is the volume profile tools that offer a wide array of visualization perspectives of the market and the volume traded at different levels. The TPO Profile & Volume Breakdown indicators are popular tools within Investor RT, and along with these options, there are many different technical indicators built-in for other more traditional metrics.

SierraChart offers a very high cost:benefit ration with it’s low, no-commitment monthly pricing models, and so many different customizable options/menus/configuration parameters it can be overwhelming at first. SierraChart is the perfect tool for the ‘tweaker’ who prefers flexibility and custom preferences/setups over simplicity. The best part of SierraChart is even though it provides so many different options, the documentation is meticulously kept up to date, so most answers can be found with some reading.

MultiCharts does also offer volume tools and configuration options, but it is presented in a more ‘by convention’, simple, polished package. Menus/Charts and other tools are intuitive with common sense layouts, so that many functions can be figured out just by poking around. It is also popular for custom indicator and systems development as it does provide a suite of tools in both its standard MultiCharts Easy-Language compatible version, and its C# compatible version for developers familiar with either languages.

Consider that via AMP which we clear, Sierra 1 and MC. NET is free and you can have both tied up to the same account.

I hope it helps your selection process better.

There is a substantial risk of loss in futures trading. Past performance is not indicative of future results.

  5. SierraChart has volume profiling drawing tools and studies. The support is amazing: if you find a legit problem they will quite often fix it in a matter of a day or two. They don't have a grid application and don't seem to be planning one. They are working on a Linux native app [yesssssss!!!] Once mastered, C++ is much easier to work in than MultiCharts EZLanguage. One good thing about Multicharts is their grid application.

    I googled it.
I think it is similar to the Amibroker exploration result window which I use.

Amibroker grid, results like a spreadsheet / database.
