I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the automated trading signals from multicharts to Interactive Brokers. I used to have this set up a couple of years ago and although it worked, there were always problems, but by the looks of things it looks a lot simpler today. Is anyone having any experience with this? cheers
Reliability doesnât seem to be the issue. For all of the stocks I have download I have not had any problem. However, IB providing the correct data to Multicharts with some instruments does seem to be a big problem. Today when I download CL contracts for 2011 into Quote Manager they are mislabeled. The CLN1 July11 contract is listed as the Jun 11 contract in MultiCharts (and they ship me July CL 2011 data). I cannot seem to get the data for the current contract CLM1. When I ask for CLM1 they say no contract exist with that name. But I have no problem pulling the correct CLM1 Jun contract data up on TWS. I don't know where the problem is MultiCharts or IB or their contract definition?
Update: The problem listed above was solved. When I was in Quote Manager trying to add the CLM1 symbol from data Source (which was IB) it did not recognize CLM1 as a valid contract. This brings up a list of CL contracts but does not have CLM1. In addition these contracts are apparently mislabeled by IB. When I specify CLM1 using the data source option it says it doesnât exist. Alternatively, in Quote Manager when I tried to add the CLM1 symbol manually it worked. I had no problem getting the data for the symbol. There seems to be some bugs in the process. But I was able to overcome it.
