Multicharts 14.0.... Is a no go for Automated Trading.

Discussion in 'Automated Trading' started by Rickshaw Man, May 20, 2021.

  1. DO NOT use this software for automated trading. I have been using this for 16 years. Recently using CQG data feed, it will randomly stop plotting chart data. The Dom works and it still receives data. If your running automated systems, be very careful. The appears to be a gotcha bug.

This could be an issue with CQG providing the data feed and not really MultiCharts. Their charting software is only as good as the data it gets. CQG data feed is known to have issues from time to time.

We trade via CQG with Ninja from Jan of this year. Algos run 24/6 not a single issue. We used IB before that and had to make a switch due to nightly resets.

why don’t you use interactive brokers for data feeding? They are perfect combination in my opinion

their data is not accurate. They aggregate ticks and send snapshots every 200 or 250ms. Plus midnight resets where there is no connection for like 15-20 min.

if you subscribe the real time data package for an additional fee, is it still not accruate?
I am not sure about it

correct. I was talking about real time. IB strength come from breadth of their products, stability and etc. their charts and data feed are not the best.

Are you using NinjaTrader as your broker or are you using a different broker?

I used IB for main data feeding and it had all kinds of problems. Extremely unreliable. Now I just I use it as secondary.
