I was just wondering if it’s normal to have a 1-2 min delay in placing buy/sell stop limit orders during times of higher volume with an Mt5 forex ECN broker. When I place the order I get a screen message saying “waiting in queue”. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m assuming that this just means that the order is waiting in queue on the way to the brokers server. The reason I ask is because I never noticed this when I was placing the same order type in the futures market (CME).
it depends on the broker, I had terrible experiences with pending orders on MT5. CFDs liquidity providers are different from futures. I guess futures are more liquid than CFDs since all the brokers make up their own deals with liquidity providers, it's a bit more decentralized than futures, that's why pending orders are so messy and you won't get filled at your limit price especially during high volume periods like news and/or market opens.
