So, I am reviewing different brokers and they seem to offer different levels of buying power depending on how long you plan to use it. Like there is day trading buying power and then just normal buying power. I am curious which broker offers the highest normal buying power? The most I seen is 2x. I am also curious which broker offers the lowest interest rate?
You can get portfolio margin at www.interactivebrokers.com which gives you 6x buying power with a $100,000 account. They also have the lowest interest rates.
6x buying power is only for day trading tho right? Do you know how much buying power they offer for long term holds?
Interesting, so which kind of stocks will allow 6x buying power for long term holding? (not just day trading)
Most stocks as long as they’re not illiquid or extremely volatile. IB’s PM account uses a private algorithm I think. You get points for variety and diversification, most of the time I have even more than 6x for buying stocks and ETFs
You could get 6x overnight with IB holding liquid well capitalized stocks. The account has to be diversified. One concentrated position will give you at least 30% margin rate.
