Is there any morning gap radar that works in pre-trading?
early gap scalping on a semi-volatile pattern has been working for me lately. Any ideas?

Carl, are you looking for a consolidated source of pre-open gainers/losers, and gappers?

If so, this site might be helpful: http://www.1option.com/

A company called Trading Wizard had a radar for gaps pre market.
I used to use it a lot, know is nowhere to be found. It will give you all stocks gapping up and down, volume etc. by 8:10 AM
    Thanks for yor help.

  8. Probably the best way to get the gaps you want is to load the sp500 into a scanner such as Tradestation's Radarscreen that has a column of today's volume.

Change a chart to 24 hour setting rather then regular exchange hours and look for stocks with premarket volume in the radarscreen.

Sort the premarket volume from high to low.

Look at the stocks with volume. See if they are gapping premarket.

Check out news to see why if no news and you like it then put in watch list or get in premarket etc.

Hard part in trading stocks is finding the sob's while you can still get in them

  9. I have always wondered about buying right at the open when the futures gap up. I'm talking about buying an index future seconds before regular trading begins.

The theory would be that if equity prices gapped higher, some shorts stop loss targets would be triggered and few buy orders would go out. That would temporary create a bump up in price.

CAUTION - this a very fast day trade that shouldn't last more than a few minutes.
Not for the faint of heart. Use a stop.

  10. Before you gamble with gaps spend some time learning what gaps are more likely to fill. It depends on the reason its gapping, more or less that is.

Couple of questions to ask. Is it gapping because of the 8.30 est reports or is it gapping due to anticpated 10 am reports? Is it gapping because yesterday was really bullish? ETC.
