I'm thinking of replacing/upgrading monitors, and would like opinions of what specs are important for trading. Currently I have 2 platforms running on 2 computers during the day. IB is running on the one I day trade with, and the one I am thinking of replacing /upgrading monitors on at this point. Currently I have 2 24 " Dells and a 27" HP I use for the IB setup. I have seen some fairly remarkable prices from Newegg and Amazon on 32" and 34" monitors recently. Mostly they have been LG for whatever reason. I am about 2.5 to 3 feet away from the monitors during the day and that works, but there are times I have to lean in to verify numbers on charts or windows. Would a 32/34" give me the ability to increase font size and see better from those distances? Any thoughts or ideas appreciated. Thanks Bob
I think the resolution is key here. Check out this monitor, Dell Ultrasharp 34" 3440x1440 resolution. Currently on sale at Walmart for $679 ($899 at Dell). Nice thing about buying at Walmart, its an easy return if your not happy. Also check this out, www.inputdirector.com. This will allow you to use one mouse for multiple computers, just moves across the screens as though it is one computer. Although I don't use it, a friend does and likes it a lot.
The brand of the monitor doesn't matter as much as the manufacturer. Nowadays there are only a few manufacturers but more brands than you can count.
Checkout 4k monitors, the price have come down recently. Then you can adjust resolution to your needs. My eye sight is fairly good still, i use a 40" 4k TV, it's the same 4x 1080P. Same foot print at 2x 1080P but taller.
I find 24" and 27" @ 1920x1200 to be the best all around for charts. I also use a 32" TV @ 1920x1200 for "across the room" viewing at one station. With higher res you can get more stuff on the screen, but the text is small so that you might need to increase the font size. There is no right or best answer... just personal preference. (Unless of course you're also going to watch porn on your trading computer. In that case, the higher the res the better!)
......that's the only reason people want 4K or higher displays...they want to be able to see/smell/feel..every skin pore on the girl's face and body,
Lawrence, I am not trying to troll you but I gota ask you a question. What the heck is up with your website? It is like you took some acid and went crazy with MS Paint. http://www.wallstreetboy.com/wallstreetboy2.html What is the purpose of these sites? http://optionboy.com/ http://www.lawrencelugar.com/ Are you an artist/photographer turned options trader? Again I am not trying to troll, I actually like the art style and the photographs. I just don't really understand the purpose of those sites. Unless it is simply a place holder and you are parking the domains?
It's currently, basically nothing. I registered those websites/domains years back, with the hope/plan to start something -- but nothing really materialized, and/or I was just too lazy. I currently trade my own acct. -- and that's all I'm really interested in doing -- I started with a relatively tiny $9K acct in 2009...my goal is to ultimately turn that into a million,
Thanks for telling me, again I was not trying to troll. I was just wondering what was up with all of the different websites. You don't owe an explanation to me or anyone else, I was just curious.
