Pointless. No way it goes into general circulation until mid 2021 and we'll be at full herd immunity for ver2 of COVID-19. No immunity for ver3.
Bingo. The market's acting like it goes in circulation by sept. Mid 2021 at the earliest . What are the long term side affects with a rushed to mkt drug? Will there be other strains its ineffective against ? This is with us for the next 2 yrs min and by that time 1000's of business's will be gone . There's 10 more co's working on vaccines. Does that mean every time we get successful phase 1,2 or 3 we sky? We'll be at 100k in a yrs.

Reminds me the day gilead announced positive results. Same thing happened. All they have to do is take 10 or 20 biotechnology companies that are competing for the cure and announce each day a positive finding, within a week will be at historic highs and in a month above dow 40,000.
Kind of like the China deal bs . Conveniently time a " deal is near" on the news wires every 2-3 weeks to keep the mkt up for 18 months . We then got a deal and skied and now it looks like the deal is dead . I'd bet anything Mr Trump was on the phone to the ceo of Moderna and told him to get an announcement out as their being funded by the gov't .
I see this a bit differently. It's widely believed the vaccine will have comparable efficacy to the flu shot - maybe 10-50% effective per season depending on strain and a host of other factors. It seems generally accepted in the medical community that Covid will continue to exist, develop various strains over the coming years and probably kill tens of thousands every year, like the standard flu. Given all that, getting a working vaccine is little more than a crutch for a segment of the population (including many in powerful positions that control opening/closing of businesses) to inspire confidence that "everything is going to be ok". That confidence is necessary to extract these folks from their current fearful and paralyzed state back into a semi-functioning consumer.
