Modern Progressivism Is Engineered to Make You Depressed and Angry

  1. The most compelling evidence that modern progressivism is a soul-crushing worldview is the profound unhappiness and relentless hostility of its most devout.

One must conclude that a prerequisite for party membership is a joyless disposition and a simmering, low-grade rage at existence itself.

Their emotional state is the best argument against their own policies. Who would want to live in a world designed by people who are so consistently furious and unhappy?

The bottom line is that if you want to be depressed and miserable be a democrat.

This is no different than associating all Republicans as MAGA...which is not true. Simply, if you meet a Democrat, there's a very good chance its someone that's not a progressive.

Just the same, as a citizen of France, Canada, and the United States...I live in an area (community) that's heavily populated with individuals known to be members of the Quebec sovereignty movement, advocating for the province's independence from Canada.

Cultural and Linguistic Identity: A strong sense of Quebecois identity, rooted in French language and culture, drives the desire for greater autonomy.

Self-Governance: Proponents believe an independent Quebec could better manage its resources, economy, and social development.

Historical Context: The movement has deep roots in Quebec's history and the desire to break away from what some perceive as English-Canadian dominance.

Yet, Quebecers get along very well with Liberals, Conservatives and other political parties. More importantly, whenever you meet a Quebecer...it does not mean that person is trying to overthrow the Canadian government or wants an insurrections...only about 28% wants to separate from Canada. :D

Regardless, most just want to protect our French culture and our language but will quickly come together as Canadians when threaten by another country.

In comparison, although progressivism is a significant force within the Democratic Party, it's not the dominant ideology of the party. Progressives is just one part of the 4 different parts of the Democratic party.

I believe about 28% of Democrats identify as being progressive while about 98% of progressive identify as being Democrat. Many Democrats hold more moderate or even conservative views.

Overall of the American voting population...progressives make up about 6% of the voting population. Thus, they are a minority in America.

Therefore, in my opinion, progressives is a very small percentage of voting Americans although they may be seen as important by those who follow the mainstream media too much.

By the way, the biggest percentage jump of people who recognize themselves as being a Democrat...Whites...a whopping 37% increase since 1994 especially those between 30 - 49 years of age. Further, a whopping 68% of those who are White in the Democratic party now use the progressive ideology although mainstream media stereotype them as being brown or black.

Unfortunately, the progressives have a foothole in key voting demographics and can hurt the Democrats as they did to help usher in Trump/MAGA into the White House in our most recent Presidential election. Now wondering what the fuck where they thinking to believe he would not cause harm to them after helping to vote him back into the Oval Office.

Another view of this, don't be so hard on progressives because you needed them to help get Trump into the Oval Office after the failed insurrection on January 6th 2021.

You should be thanking them for being suckers. :sneaky:

P.S. I'm a Republican...a small group of Republicans from Kentucky and South Dakota who now call the north suburbs of Chicago their home. In fact, Illinois has a very large community of French ancestry/French speakers. Most of us do not like those with MAGA ideology and we get along well with our liberal neighbors just like Quebecers do with their liberal neighbors.

Republicans in Illinois have a great respect of Indigenous Americans just as Quebecers do of their Indigenous Canadians...a historical connection and with similar like tensions with each other.

I think in 2016 a lot of the Bernie supporters actually voted for Trump after Clinton pissed them off by referring to them as BernieBros & misogynists. I think they were disillusioned by Bernie accepting the DNC bribe to stop campaigning and back a corporatist like Clinton. That was my conclusion after reading reddit's r/politics back in 2016.

Maybe it's only 28% progressives but if you watch MSNBC it's pretty much the majority take on all subjects. Their main anchor Rachel Maddow definitely comes off as a progressive. Although there are limits even on MSNBC. I believe The Young Turks was deemed too leftist to continue on MSNBC back in 2017. Ceng (founder of TYT) is really Democratic Socialist not really a progressive.

I used to go to Montreal back in the late 1970s where my cousins lived for a while and it seemed their neighbors all supported an independent Quebec. I always liked Montreal, I remember watching Rusty Staub hit a grand slam against the Mets in a game at Exhibition Stadium for the Expos.

Systematically depriving people of respect, causes negative emotions, inability to cope with confusion and the need to blame someone.
Also making people live paycheck to paycheck doesn't help.

  5. Democrats lost to a 34xs convicted felon racist rapist and the worst candidate and worst President ever twice.

Since the 1940's only 2 of 7 Democrat Presidents won 2 terms,Obama and Clinton.Clinton only won his 1st and 2nd election because of Ross Perot. We have proof with his wifes and VPs presidential elections how Clinton type Democrats do when they don't have a Ross Perot taking millions of votes from the Republican candidate, thus since 1940 only 1 of 7 Democrat Presidents won 2 terms.

With results that awful Democrats need to look in mirror and stop trying to blame progressives for their repeated horrendous results.

  7. Joe Biden is by far the worst Democrat President ever and one of the worst 5 Presidents ever.Yet Democrats want to blame progressives for Trump winning a 2nd term rather than the guy who had a negative 20 net approval rating:rolleyes:

  8. Dont doubt it.I have the same experiences with people with Downs Syndrome, they are some of the happiest people in the world in my experience.

  9. Democrats are awful.I hate Trump and think he is the worst President ever but I still do not regret voting for Jill Stein and would do it again before voting for a 2nd Biden term (Harris would have been a 2nd Biden term)

If the left spent half as much time organizing complete picture as it does blaming each other for losses, the GOP wouldn’t be in office. Progressives and moderates both have blind spots, but your numbers don’t prove progressivism wins, just that Democrats lose when divided. Trump’s second win should be a wake-up call for unity, not another round of “It’s their fault.”

The left's Achilles’ heel has always been circular firing squads. Rather than build bridges between progressive and centrist wings, posts like this scapegoat allies while ignoring systemic challenges:

    Voter suppression.
    Right-wing media dominance.
    Gerrymandering.
    Electoral college distortions.
    Election funding reform.

And yes, sometimes weak candidates or fractured narratives.
