Glu Mobile is hot. The mobile gaming company has seen its share soar over 50 per cent since the first of the year. I like the Silicon Valley company and recently put some skin in the game. Their fortunes have risen recently after announcements that they are going to be integrated into the Nvidia and Android platforms. They are also bringing their most popular game, Gun Bros., to Facebook. See Glu Mobile shares jump 5% on Android Role and Mobile Gaming Veteran Glu Takes its Top Title Gun Bros. to Facebook.
The iOS is Glu's top platform. Developing for Android is an expansion from their previous focus on the iPhone. See Glu unveils new iPhone titles.
Glu Mobile is up slightly in pre-market trading after Q4 earnings report that show the company is sustaining fewer losses. See Glu Mobile: We'll make games for Honeycomb tablets.
Igriot - Great call on GLUU. Saw your recommendation a few weeks back, performed my DD, initiated a position, and it has been sky-rocketing ever since (up 34%). I performed my standard technical research and everything checked out to begin my position (I focus on small cap tech so it doesn't take much for me to jump in), but have recently been digging deeper into a more 'marketplace' view before I increase my position (I originally set $4/share as my 2nd entry point, but unfortunately it came quicker than expected and did not have time to analyze and justify the position). I've simply been spending time reading the reviews in both the Apple and Android app stores as well as various mobile gaming websites for Glu's games. The two overall themes I've come across are Game Quality (minus a few issues with early versions, which is expected) and 'Addictability'. Of course Game Quality and 'Addictability' are very important in operating with a freemium model (see Zynga) and Glu games have both. I'm also incredibly impressed with the CEO and his ability to come in, shake up the stagnant business model, and move to freemium gaming. The guy is young, but experienced in the mobile gaming space, which really hasn't been in its current state for about 3 yrs now. If you listen to to the Q4 conference call http://www.glu.com/investors you can literally hear his confidence in Glu's vision for the future. By already beginning to develop on the Android Honeycomb platform (tablets), it is clear the management team at Glu is on the forefront of mobile gaming, not just waiting around and waiting for the market to move then attempting to adapt (See Blockbuster i.e.Netflix). Just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to GLUU, and I will continue to post some more news and analysis in this thread (both positive and negative of course). I know there is nothing earth shattering in my analysis above, but it's Saturday, so I figured I'd keep it light at first
