I need to access, monitor & trade futures & futures options on the road. I am looking at the following platforms that seem to be cost effective for my trading. I have an account with CQG, but only the desktop system (Sierra Chart actually). I am open to moving my a/c. 1) IB Mobile I do not have a IB a/c at the moment, so trying it out in demo mode. But while it is letting me pull chain for stocks, it won't show chains for futures. Not sure why. Pro: I am very familiar with IB TWS. Con: Data feed (especially historical data) for desktop is crap. 2) TradeStation Mobile I do not have a TS a/c at the moment, so unable to try it out. Can I pull up options chain, click on a row and send order? 3) TOS Mobile It is beautiful. Commission really bad. Any recommendation if you are active user of any of these platforms? Or some other platform you use?
For Futures and options on futures I prefer the combination of a dedicated FCM & CTS T4 and their mobile T4. The mobile T4 is good for changing and monitoring your order and the desktop T4 has a nice options screen. http://www.ctsfutures.com/t4_mobile.aspx http://www.ctsfutures.com/t4.aspx You get both for one price. 1245
T4 looks pretty good actually. However, it doesn't look like the Options are at all supported to the T4 Mobile. So that is probably a deal killer for me. http://www.ctsfutures.com/t4_version.aspx
The mobile T4 looks to me like the web trader in a smaller window. There is no option module. What I have suggested to traders is to enter option orders away from the market on T4 Desktop, then use mobile T4 when they are out to change the price to the current market when they want an execution. You are right, this is not optimal. A true mobile application that replace trading on a desktop is not realistic. It will always be a second tool. Just not enough screen space. 1245
Do you get futures options chains on TWS for Android? Equity options look fine (no greeks or IV, though) but I can't see an "options" button when I'm looking at the quote screen for the underlying futures.
Brighton, as I have mentioned in my original post, I can pull chains on equities in TWS Mobile, but not on futures. Maybe they have not implemented it. CQG, CTS: Neither supports Futures options in mobile TS: Same deal as IB. Can pull chains on equities, but not on futures. But with TS it seems I can't even place trades on Futures Option, unlike IB So this is what I have decided: Use TWS Mobile. Yes, I can't get the greeks, but that is fine (more on this later). I can always pull up each sym/cp/strike in the watchlist, and place order. Clumsy & a bit time consuming, but it works. However, TOS Mobile looks so much more advanced. Only if they didn't insist charging close to $7 r/t. Maybe I will use TOS to research / decide and then place the trade on TWS Mobile. TOS has full chains, delta/gamma/vega/theta/IV... the works if you are so inclined, Added incentive is I can live with TWS as the order entry platform on desktop, as long as I get my charts / quotes from someone else. But that is doable. So that is that, unless I run into something better. Thanks everyone!
I didn't mean IB TWS. I meant this IBROKER https://www.ibroker.com/AvailableBrokers The strange thing is that Daniels trading site says they have FOPs. Guess I was wrong.
Yes, I saw that. No word on pricing that I can see. I have a CQG a/c with CrossLand, but my CQG login didn't work. Sent them an email. Let's see
FYI: On the Gain Capital/OEC site it appears that a trade made using the iBroker app is 25 cents per side. You should be able to use it for quotes, position monitoring, etc at no additional cost, but I'd make sure that's clear before signing up. http://www.openecry.com/mobile/iBroker-download.cfm I like the idea - it's a moderate cost way for smaller FCMs to offer a tool that the big guys have.
