Quote sounds good, but it is dumb. Who is better, the critic would never managed a $1 billion hedge fund, or the man who blew up with a $1 billion hedge fund? The critic. Actions have consequences. The man just ruined the lives of his investors. The critic did not ruin anyone's life. Who is better, the critic who never got married, or the man who failed his marriage? The critic. Actions have consequences. The man just ruined the lives of his wife and kids. The critic never hurt a family. Doesn't matter if you try your best and you fail. Your failure ruined the lives of others.
It's easy to sit in the bleachers, drink beer and yell at the players. It's very different if you're on the court busting your ass every day.
As profitable traders, when we crush our enemies (the suckers taking the other side of our trades), we don't get to see that. Probably a good thing..
