What is common characteristic of totalitarian mind cults?

Usually there is ‘Great Idea’ behind, which join the followers together. Follower must believe in Idea and don’t reason about its validity.

All followers divided into 2 groups – elite minority and ordinary majority.

Minority usually understand that Idea is nonsense, but very useful for pocketing the majority’s money. If the Idea implies some kind of ceremony, elite members participate in rite only on public, when majority is watching. If the Idea implies change of the lifestyle, the minority also demonstrate the change on public, but continue to do what they want when nobody watching. Often the elite members communicate with each other via closed parties, when the Idea and ordinary followers are under mockery.

Majority demonstrate opposite behavior. The Idea is holy and cannot be disputed. Any logical or scientifically proven arguments against the Idea generate aggressive behavior. The follower is ready to change the lifestyle, donate time and money in order to follow the Idea.

This is basis of most mind cults, only the Idea vary widely.

And now the question for chit chat – what is the greatest mind cult of 2020?

    Trolls welcomed too!
