This thread is to discuss projects that focus on building the Metaverse(s), and the intersection of crypto and gaming.

Facebook pivoting to "Meta" is the most recent event highlighting this growth sector.

Personally, I think a web2.0 company will fail miserably compared to start-ups that are building web3.0 from the ground-up. The business incentives are not aligned with the corporate culture.

Some criticisms of FB are revealed in some documentaries:

    "The Great Hack"

    "The Social Dilemma"

    Let's discuss!

Elite Trader is Web2 where the site provides a service, in return, they own all the content and can manage and monetize it per the terms of conditions. FB is the extreme example of this

An (open) Metaverse is Web3, where the communities and the users own the data, content, digital properties and they control how they are used and managed and monetized. DAO's are a good example of how it's being managed and smart contracts show transparency in enforcing the rules

Bitcoin and cryptos should have been an easy first step to show how anyone in the world can own a piece of a scarce digital asset but even after 12 years still a difficult concept for many on ET

NFT's are a next step in this Web3 direction, where digital identities, entitlements, privileges are defined by the tokens

When you own a virtual mansion (an NFT) in the SAND Metaverse, there are no centralized title companies, but rather, the ownership is verifiable in the decentralized blockchain through smart contracts and unbreakable cryptography, hence cryptos

What's fascinating is the BAYC (Bored Ape Yacht Club) NFT's that are providing access to the most exclusive clubs in the real world. I saw a post there's a plan to purchase a hotel where every BAYC holder can stay for free. There's also a partnership with Adidas

Real world exclusivity and digital scarcity are a good match. Cheapest BAYC is $200K+

lol, we’ll see an implementation at some point I imagine.

I guess you are not familiar with Axie Infinity. Folks in the Philippines make a living playing the game.

Activision already runs several global communities and has the most expertise in managing them. They have considerable experience controlling online economies. As for the social aspect, people have been getting married as their online avatars over 20 years ago. Additionally, we saw people transferring these fantasy words by dressing up as their avatars in RL.

Meta, the company, is a desperate image campaign by Facebook. Others will try to ride a possible wave.

    There is nothing new here.

This is an excellent resource, hard to believe the author is in their early twenties.

I’d probably put this is the same class as 21lessons.com as a great intro but focused more toward a larger concept than just BTC.

    Thanks so much !!
