"Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything - anger, anxiety, or possessions - we cannot be free. The seed of suffering in you may be strong but don't wait until you have no more suffering before allowing yourself to be happy." - Thich Nhah Hanh
Poor Curtis, was suffering from mental health problems.. Last report was around two years ago. Hope he is doing better these days.
Many of the Turtles that started funds and collected 2/20 etc did very well for themselves for the decade or two after the Turtle programme ended. During that period Trend following still worked much better than it has done since. Faith wasn't one of them. He decided to do other things that interested him more and so missed that boat..
The "don't cling to possessions" crowd is one of my favorites. Some years ago when the occupy Wall St nutjobs were camped out, a reporter ventured in to interview a few of them. One guy went on and on about how all property and possessions should be community property and capitalism was the root of all evil blah blah blah. Then the reporter asked him about the iPad he was holding and he said it was new. She asked if he would give it to the homeless guy sleeping over by a tree about 30 yards away since "no one should own anything". He says "Are you nuts this is mine... I paid for this".
Curtis is one of those individuals who may be neurodivergent—a trait that, if properly harnessed, can be a tremendous asset, much like Richard Dennis or Jim Simons have done with similar qualities. Unfortunately, these traits are often misunderstood or undervalued, especially by authors like Covel, who contribute to the mischaracterization of such individuals. Don’t throw these people away. In today’s terms, Curtis would be considered a quantitative researcher, despite lacking formal education in the field. He spent many years working in startup companies, specializing in software development. Curtis eventually founded TradeBlox, a fintech company, where he built the software infrastructure. A few years later, he brought in his high school friend, Tim Arnold, to join the venture. However, their partnership eventually soured. While the specifics of their falling out remain unclear, Curtis felt he had been treated unfairly, while Tim saw it as a buyout. It’s crucial to support and understand those who are neurodivergent, or you might end up with vultures like Covel and others, who will pick their bones clean.
