As I was a big user of Quotetracker in the past, and have being trying to get hold of a working version for some time, I am delighted I stumbled across MT last Friday evening. This thread is dedicated to MT, as I believe it to have the best charts for daytrading - simple and effective. I have recently being trading ES and CL options, but will now focus my attention back to stocks, as I now have MT linked to my IB account, and want to test it with live trading next week. Feel free to post your MT charts, or anything MT related in this forum. J_S
Just testing the order entry via TWS to make sure all ok, no probs so far with placing and adjusting orders. Will be suggesting some small improvements to the chart trader for daytrading fast markets. J_S
I was heavy QuoteTracker user from way back as well. Loved it to death. Got the new version couple weeks back. I have been very impressed after driving it and am seriously considering moving all my trading to it as before. For what I do, it has the easiest user interface bar none. They have both my brokers' server farms integrated. Very cool. Will be experimenting with that. They have invested a ton under the hood before it got here. Still, for all that sophistication, they missed some really simple things that get miserable real quick if you are trying to use it for hours on end. Trendline alerts are a big improvement over the old price alerts in Tracker, but audio notifications suck as you are forced to use a very limited set of audio notifications that are either too short/soft to be heard, confusing in their purpose because they are also Windows alert/notify sounds or just too long and obnoxious to listen to more than once. 30 sec of the NYSE opening bell. Yep, that is what I want to use with my ES trading. That will really impress guys next to me. Hopefully the developers with get around to putting a file browse button in so we can select something that can be tailored to the work enviro. External comm for alerts is also noticeably missing. No unrushed trips to the loo allowed. Despite missing some really needed features for a trader's hygiene, I bet they will get them done. Tracker developers had a long rep for the best support going because the developers were real close to support. Hopefully the same people are running the show now. Might flip over when they get some of the thorns out. Will post more later as I come across. T200
I was reccomended to try out MT from another guy on this board since TOS is not reliable. Seems like a hard learning curve to adjust MT to IB TWS. But definitely curious about it.
I used to use QT in the past, wrote market profile for my own use (at the time, the cheapest market profile subscription was like $300 a month). Really like QT then. Maybe I will take a look at it.
I beta-tested MT and unless they have changed it in the production version you can use any .wav file you wish. Do a search for .wav files on your machine. Then change to that file's location from the defaults MT provides. Jack
Not sure what you mean about the leaning curve. I've been running MT & IB for almost two years on one of my computers, have had no issues that I can recall. I would email support, they're the best!
There are a few issues with loading current week options for ES, but I will get on to MT support about it. The answer is yes, you can get OHLC bar charts, but as the trades may be very small, there may not be sufficient trades to give you a good picture. However, you can set the OHLC to Tick OHLC, and I have set this call option for ES at 4 ticks, which you can see gives a very good picture. J_S
