Meditation routines: books and courses?

Discussion in 'Psychology' started by David's faith, Mar 7, 2024.

  1. So obviously everybody knows books like Best Loser Wins, Trading the zone. I find it quite difficult however to find the topsellers for trading meditation routines or tricks. The normal meditation books do not focus so much on letting go of emotions, more on calming down and finding your inner animal. Any recommendations on books or courses?

Surrendering is a daily practice. Just like anything the more you commit to this practice the more you will realize that not even meditation or anything is really needed. It's as simple as letting go. That's the hard part lol. That its simple.

you can start here. This is where I started my journey

I like Zen. It is said that the Lotus of Buddhism and rose of Taoism came together to create a super flower, Zen. Better than each parent.

This is a good book to remind you that meditation is not limited to sitting in a ritualistic fashion and mindfulness is something to be experienced at all times. From the book: "Wash the dishes just to wash the dishes"...much like one focuses on the breathe during traditional meditation...consciously observing the mind and bringing it back to presence (instead of engaging in your thoughts down a rabbit hole of illusions) one can do the same with day to day tasks. While raking leaves, why have a conversation about today's frustrations? Or day dream about a future upcoming event (more illusion), Unconsciously moving the tool back and forth while you exist more in lala land than reality. Use the rake like you would the breathe.

"The only sin is unconscious, the only virtue is awareness" - Zen

I'll throw out a wild card just for fun:

This book is unusual. It claims to teach Hermeticism but it has nothing to do with The Thrice Great. What it is, However, is a manual for the development of Occult magical abilities. What I found interesting in this book is the chapter about meditation. lt gives detailed instructions of advanced techniques that are perfectly in tune with traditional Indian meditation. It then goes into visualization techniques to be performed after meditation that are very interesting.

Probably not worth the read if you don't have any interest in New Age type occultism.

  6. Read the book several years ago. It's quite good.

After really committing to the practice daily. The get distracted should become less frequent. But even then for me it’s about not putting value or attaching emotions to those distractions. Even stressful thoughts will become equivalent to the thought you get when watching let’s say a bird. It just flows through you without you grabbing it
