I watched that live as it was being streamed on Youtube. I have some relatives from South France that went up to Paris to participate in the protests.

If that occurred in France...protestors would burn down the country. U.S. markets and European markets are very nervous right now.

It’s important to remember this is a country that takes the entire month August off…

Thanks for pointing out the bravery of the French for sacrificing wages and fighting for their rights during a working month.

Only certain sectors of the economy. Below explanation from Quora and it saves me the time of explaining why its a Yes and No.....

As background, remember that vacation days are earn only by long term employee, by Law, the vacation period can be forced by the employer and school break is two months long in Summer. Standard vacation is equivalent to 4–5 weeks for employee (paid leave)

Manufacturing workers will by tradition and convenience for the employer be put on vacation in the July - August. It will propagate also to all the supply chain factory. That will eat up 2–3 weeks of vacation and the remainder will be a discretion of the employee with agreement from the company.

White collar workers will also take time off during that period, with priority for those with children of school age. That generally will be a down in economic activity in the service industry/sales.

It cascade and so a lot of service which make their business with the activity will also experience a drop in business, they will shut down too.

Most of the resorts/restaurant staff are seasonal workers, extra hands employed for the seasons to cater to the extra activity. As temporary worker, they do not earn vacation days or little and it’s up to them between two contracts to manage their time. Long term employee will have their vacations credits and take time off during low activity period.

Relatives there in France are traditionalists, known as aoûtiens, who take off August instead of July (known as juillettistes). Traffic sucks big time there because those that took off in July are returning at about the same time as those leaving work in August. :D

I've said it before, cons in DC have been pushing their luck for far too long and pussy pushover dems acquiescing to their every move will eventually need to move the fuck out of the way to accelerationists if they don't massively course correct. Now watch as Biden "compromises" by cutting social spending for the debt ceiling.
