Maximum Age to be President.

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Arnie Guitar, Jun 28, 2024.

  1. In aviation, you can not pilot an airliner past 65.

We have a minimum age to be President, 35.
For many, many years I've said there should also be a maximum age.

Last night was further proof of that.

Sadly, it does not matter who wins in November...the winner will be the oldest U.S. President...ever. In addition, he will be the most "incoherent" U.S. President in history if the next debate has similar debate performances for both candidates.

Also, both are scheduled for several "town hall meetings" before/after the next debate...I'm not sure if that could clean up the debate mess of Trump's lies and Biden's dysfunctional (inability) to respond to the lies.

Yet, still too many other elephants in the room for the entire U.S. election to be thrown in complete chaos before November election.

Arbitrary limits are stupid, the 35 year old minimum should be removed. As should the birth restriction, any citizen should be allowed to hold office if its the will of the people.

  5. Maybe nobody should be able to be inaugurated at the age of 75 or older? Let's keep it real, most people in their 80's start having significant mental decline. Even if they're fine on inauguration day, the job is stressful and it's hard to get a healthy amount of sleep. This can lead to a faster decline in health. We don't want people talking about the 25th Amendment at the end of their presidency.

Imagine a foreign nation finds a way to hack dominion though. Now you could have Kim Jong Un as president.

Personally I say stop letting everybody vote. Only property owners. If you can't get your own life together enough to do something as simple as buy a piece of property, you certainly shouldn't be making decisions for the rest of the country.

I did say 'citizen'. Plus if either party can hack the machines then Democracy is dead and age limits are irrelevant at that point.

So Kim could pay some American woman $1m to marry him, then he can get his citizenship in about 1 election cycle.

But no one is going to vote for him. And if they can hack the voting machines they can put in sleeper agent who was born in the US, anyway to get the same result.
